Laurent Mignonneau è un media artists riconosciuto a livello internazionale impegnato nel campo delle installazioni computerizzate interattive. E' insegnante all'Università delle Arti e del Design di Linz, Austria, e dirige il Department for Interface Culture all'Institute for Media. Mignonneau precedentemente insegnava presso l' IAMAS International Academy of Media Arts and Sciences  a Gifu, Giappone ed era ricercatore e direttore artistico all' ATR Media Integration and Communications Research Lab a Kyoto, Giappone. E' stato inoltre ricercatore a termine al MIT CAVS a Cambridge US, al Beckmann Institute a Champaign Urbana, IL, USA e all' NTT-InterCommunication Center a Tokyo.
 
Originariamente Sommerer studiò biologia (botanica) all'Università di Vienna e scultura moderna e educazione artistica all'Accademia di Belle Arti di Vienna (laurea). Ha completato il suo dottorato di ricerca al CAiiA-STAR, University of Wales College of Art, Newport, UK.
 
 
Questi lavori sono stati esposti in 150 mostre itineranti nel mondo e sono permanentemente installate nei media museum e media collections in tutto il mondo, inclusi il Media Museum of the ZKM a Karlsruhe, Germania, il NTT-ICC InterCommunication Center a Tokyo, il Cartier Foundation di Parigi, il Millennium Dome di Londra, il Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography in Giappone, l' AEC Ars Electronica Center a Linz, Austria, l' NTT Plan-Net di Nagoya, Giappone, Shiroishi Multimedia Art Center a Shiroishi, Giapppone e l' HOUSE-OF-SHISEIDO di Tokyo.

Laurent Mignonneau è nato nel 1967 ad Angouleme in Francia. Attualmente insegna presso l'Universita di Arte e Design a Linz in Austria e dirige il Department Interface Culture presso l'Institute for Media.

Queste opere sono state esposte in circa 150 mostre in tutto il mondo e sono permanentemente in varie collezioni tra cui: quella del Museo ZKM di Karlsruhe in Germania, la NTT-ICC Intercommunication Center di Tokyo, la Fondazione Cartiera di Parigi, il Millennium Dome di Londra, il Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography in Giappone, la AEC Ars Electronica Center di Linz in Austria, il piano di NTT-Net a Nagoya in Giappone, Shiroishi Multimedia Art Center di Shiroishi in Giappone e la casa - DI SHISEIDO a Tokyo.

Mignonneau Laurent è un artista di fama internazionale che opera nel campo multimediale con installazioni interattive.

Biografia:

Laurent Mignonneau è nato nel 1967 ad Angouleme in Francia. Attualmente insegna presso l'Universita di Arte e Design a Linz in Austria e dirige il Department Interface Culture presso l'Institute for Media.
Laurent Mignonneau ha precedentemente ricoperto il ruolo di Professore presso l'Accademia Internazionale delle Arti e delle Scienze Media di Gifu in Giappone ed è stato ricercatore e direttore artistico presso l'ATR Media Integration and Communications Research Lab a Kyoto in Giappone.
Mignonneau è stato anche ricercatore presso il MIT di Cambridge CAVS USA, Beckmann Institute di Urbana Champaign, Illinois, Stati Uniti d'America e la NTT Intercommunication-Center di Tokyo.
Mignonneau ha completato il suo dottorato al CAiiA-STAR, presso l'University of Wales College of Art di Newport nel Regno Unito ed all'Università di Kobe in Giappone.
Nel 1992 Mignonneu ha incontrato Sommerer Christa all'Istituto per i Nuovi Media di Stadelschule a Francoforte e con lei ha niziato una collaborazione nel campo delle installazioni interattive computerizzate. Le opere di Mignonneau e Sommerer sono considerate epocali. Queste opere sono state esposte in circa 150 mostre in tutto il mondo e sono permanentemente in varie collezioni tra cui: quella del Museo ZKM di Karlsruhe in Germania, la NTT-ICC Intercommunication Center di Tokyo, la Fondazione Cartiera di Parigi, il Millennium Dome di Londra, il Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography in Giappone, la AEC Ars Electronica Center di Linz in Austria, il piano di NTT-Net a Nagoya in Giappone, Shiroishi Multimedia Art Center di Shiroishi in Giappone e la casa - DI SHISEIDO a Tokyo.
Mignonneau ha vinto premi internazionali come ad esempio: nel 1994 il "Golden Nica" Premio Arts Electronica per l'Arte Interattiva (Linz, Austria), nel 1995 il "Premio Ovation" di Interactive Media Festival (Los Angeles, USA) e il "Multi Media Award '95" della Associazione Multimedia in Giappone e nel 2001 la "World Technology Award " a Londra.
Mignonneau e Sommerer hanno pubblicato numerosi articoli scientifici sulla vita artificiale, sull'interattività e sulla progettazione di interfacce che sono ampiamente usati nelle Università, nelle conferenze internazionali e nei simposi.

Poetica:

Laurent Mignonneau è un'artista multimediale e il lavoro che porta avanti assieme a Sommerer fa parte anche di quello che è oggi il sistema dell'arte tradizionale che offre grandi possibilità di visibilità. Nelle installazioni ha incluso principi scientifici e l'interattività del web seguendo l'ottica dell'espressione artistica ed è riuscita a passare da un contesto di media multimediale a contesti espositivi di grande prestigio in tutto il mondo.
Tanti lavori di Laurent Mignonneau si concentrano sulla vita artificiale cercando di illustrare i principi della vita, dell'evoluzione e dell'interazione delle persone con l'opera. Le sue opere esplorano sia la scienza che l'arte attraverso l'applicazione della biologia elettronica e gli studi sulla vita artificiale.
Nei loro lavori interattivi Mignonneau e Sommerer si preoccupano di raggiungere sempre una congruenza tra il contenuto dell'opera e la tecnologia impiegata per crearla.
La creazione e auto-organizzazione di "open systems/sistemi aperti" gioca un ruolo centrale nei loro lavori artistici.
