Laura Beloff

Born 1964 in Finland. Lives and works in Oslo She works in the field of visual arts and new media (installations, interaktive systems). She has a background in photography (MFA 95, Helsinki University of Art and Design) and new medias & critical studies (MFA 98, California Institute of the Arts, Fulbright grantee). She has exhibited widely in Europe and US. The most recent ones (2002) in Sweden, Spain and USA. She has received several grants from the State of Finland and various foundations. She has received awards; the yearly Art Award from the State of Finland (94), third place at File-festival, Sao Paolo, honorary mention at the finnish graphic design awards. She has been as an artist-in-residence at the Ars Electronica Center in Linz (Pepinieeres stipendium) 1999-2000, at MagicMediaLab in Brussels. fall 2000, doing a project "Binary Structures" and in Wien at AIR- haus residence jan-february 2001. She has currently the Professorship for Electronic Media at the Statens Kunstakademi in Oslo Norway.
