Lanfranco Aceti lavora come accademico, artista e curatore. È professore associato in Arte Contemporanea e Cultura Digitale alla Sabanci University di Istanbul.

Biografia

Lanfranco Aceti lavora come accademico, artista e curatore. È professore associato in Arte Contemporanea e Cultura Digitale alla Sabanci University di Istanbul. La sua ricerca interdisciplinare si concentra sull'intersezione delle arti digitali, culture visuali e tecnologie dei nuovi media. È specializzato nella traduzione intersemiotica tra media classici e nuovi media, processi contemporanei di ibridazione digitale, l'avanguardia storica e contemporanea, e le applicazioni di nuovi media nel campo dell'arte contemporanea. È anche un Honorary Lecturer al dipartimento di Informatica, Ambienti di Realtà Virtuale a UCL. È stato infine Honorary Research Fellow alla Slade School of Fine Art e ha anche lavorato come ricercatore post-dottorato, sponsorizzato dall'AHRC a Birkbeck College, Università di Londra e come Visiting Research Fellow al Victoria and Albert Museum.

Poetica

Lanfranco Aceti è un artista che lavora nel campo dell'arte contemporanea, il suo obiettivo è quello di sfruttare le possibilità offerte dal digitale per attivare una rivisitazione di settori tradizionali come la pittura, la scultura e il cinema. Anche se questo tipo d'impegno può risultare complesso, è comunque necessario per rivedere in maniera critica il tradizionale, al fine di giustificare un nuovo approccio estetico. Il suo impegno artistico si concentra sull'esplorazione delle possibilità offerte dai processi di digitalizzazione di settori come il disegno, la pittura, la scultura, l'installazione e il cinema, attraversando varie discipline, dall'antropologia alla filosofia, dalla scienza informatica alla biologia. La sua scelta artistica come artista visivo e teorico culturale è quella di promuovere l'integrazione di discipline con l'attualità, senza guardare al passato come il tempo dell'oro, ma come un momento di una continua trasformazione che rappresenta e documenta attraverso i nuovi media l'itinerario di un viaggio personale e artistico.
